Among conclusions of study made by New York consultants George G. Sharp Co is that for first time shipowner is offered steam propulsion plant superior to diesel engine in almost every respect, including fuel consumption; plant referred to is General Electric Co projected reheat package, MST-14; study was based on comprehensive evaluation of diesel and steam power plants in tankers of about 100, 000 long tons dw and 126,000 long tons displacement; three trade routes were considered; findings of study are discussed.
