Summary of experimental investigation at National Physical Laboratory, initiated and sponsored by former British Shipbuilding Research Assn, and involving both wind tunnel and tank testing of mathematical ship forms; main object was to break down resistance into its real physical components (wavemaking and viscous), to determine their interdependence and to compare them with breakdown corresponding to usual Froude assumptions; wind tunnel measurements are described in appendix by E.F.Relf, and experiment tank measurements by J.R.Shearer.
