Lachinedoc, intended for carriage of bulk cargoes on Great Lakes, River and Gulf of St. Lawrence, was built by Atlantic Shipbuilding Co for N.M.Paterson and Sons; length oa 259 ft, breadth molded 43 ft 10 in., depth molded 22 ft 6 in.; cranes are mounted on special carriages running on transverse tracks between hatches for winching from side to side; two 8 cyl Lister-Blackstone engines are derated to 480 bhp at 660 rpm.
