9-cyl radial Bristol Phoenix compression-ignition engine fitted in Westland Wapiti, is outcome of over 7 yr research and development work by Engine Research Department of Bristol Aeroplane Co, on behalf of Air Ministry; 5 3/4 by 7 1/2 in. bore and stroke; 350 hp at 1900 rpm; weight 990 lb; characteristics compared with Bristol Pegasus gasoline engine and R.
