First experimental installation of sodium-vapor lamps in America; sponsored jointly by General Electric Co and New York Power and Light Corp; installed on Balltown Road near Schenectady; demonstration embodies result of many years of research in United States, England, Holland and Germany; 22 lighting units installed, although not more than 18 will be lighted at any one time; 80 to 90 w lamp gives 4000 lumens.
