Blade wheel with predominantly vertical axis installed at stern of ship so that bottom of rotor is flush with hull; propeller blades disposed perpendicularly to hull, thus completely submerged in water; steering, propulsion and speed control effected by propeller; steering made possible by fact that direction of propeller thrust can be changed at will; hull at stern can be fully streamlined since it has no appendages.
