Trials on Belgian National Railways of inductive control system carried out to study signaling system that would supplement or replace color light and could compel driver to observe instructions to slow down or stop; transmission of information from track to locomotive is carried out by pairs of inductors between rails, each of which contains coil of litz wire tuned by capacitor; some of inductors are inert and are tuned to fixed frequency; in other frequency response can be varied by switching additional capacitors in parallel.
