Report of tests for objectionable noise levels on seven diesel locomotives equipped with exhaust silencers by representatives of Swiss, French, German, Italian, Netherlands and British Railways each using his own equipment; study under auspices of International Union of Railways rated noise levels with engines at maximum governed speed and at idle; comparative evaluations revealed some disagreement because of variations in measuring equipment.
