Types of instabilities recognized are acoustic resonances, nonacoustic instabilities, chuffing, and transition from deflagration to detonation; objections to instability and qualitative observations; acoustic sources are considered and results obtained in developing measurement techniques to measure propellant admittance; acoustic losses and acoustic modes; erosive effects.
