Experimental performance of plasma engine shows strong accelerative coupling between moving transverse magnetic field and plasma propellants; there were 160 kw of power transferred to helium plasma with 50% of this initially appearing as axially directed kinetic energy; however, at present, half of energy given to plasma is ultimately lost to propulsion tube walls causing serious degrading of useful efficiency.
