Notes on two special-purpose transporters built to assist in handling structural sections of first stage of Saturn 5 space launcher during manufacture at NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala; task of S-1C will be to move first stage of Saturn 5 lunar launching vehicle between various manufacturing and testing sites, and to serve as assembly fixture when engines are attached; it is 38 ft wide and 195 ft long with tractor attached; unladen weight is 105 tons; hydraulic powered 50-ton crane is being used to transport bulkheads and components of Saturn 5 S-1C first stage booster around assembly area; photographs.
