Possible configurations of NASA's Optical Technology Satellite (OTS) were revealed by Marshall Space Flight Center at International Convention of IEEE; OTS, which is still in feasibility study phase, would place satellite in orbit to serve as test-bed for systems needed for long-range space communications and astronomical observation; objectives of satellite and possible communications experiments; some approaches and problems to be encountered are indicated.
