Review of NASA meteorological satellites development program and operational weather satellite system with reference to Tiros Operational Satellite (TOS) System now being established; new instruments on satellites included electron temperature probe on Tiros VII, and Automatic Picture Transmission (APT) camera on Tiros V III; within next year, first operational weather satellite system will be providing local users throughout world with pictures directly from orbit of cloud patterns in their own areas, and providing global cloud-cover data daily to Washington, DC, for worldwide analyses.
