Diesel electric clipper "Challenger" built by San Diego Marine Construction Co; length 128 ft 6 in.; beam 27 ft 1 in.; depth 13 ft 3 in.; propelled by two 275 hp, 8-cyl Atlas Imperial engines turning at 514 rpm, each direct connected to 175-kw, 440-v, a-c Westinghouse generators and one 200-hp 6-cyl Atlas Imperial, connected to 125-kw, 440-v Westinghouse dynamo.
