George W. Codrington, built by Gulfport Boiler and Welding Works, Port Arthur, Tex, to order of General Motors, and turned over to Navy immediately after completion; hull dimensions are 102 ft 2 in. by 24 ft by 12 ft 4 in.; tankage provided for 520 bbl of fuel and 400 gal of lubricating oil; propelled by General Motors 12-cyl, 2-cycle, V-type Diesel engine developing 1200 bhp at 750 rpm.
