Reasons are outlined which led to selection of Bell 47G-3B-1 helicopter for British Army; roles of aviation, divided into reconnaissance, fire support, tactical and logistic, tasks involved and organization of Army aviation, are considered with respect to unit light helicopter project; servicing of aircraft, unit flights, and pilot training are described.
