Experiment described was carried out to check that, from point of view of daylight legibility, certain shades of green were satisfactory for use as background color on traffic signs with white lettering; four panels 5×1 ft were each painted in one of four different shades of green; fifth panel was covered in white PVC sheet; shades used and results of tests are described.
