Reference made to previous surveys, (Engineering Index 1957 p 562 and 1961 p 789); new developments in gasoline and diesel engines (rated at 300 rpm or above); two largest European makers of small gasoline engines, Jlo and Fichtel and Sachs, who used to produce two-cycle engines exclusively, have added four-cycles to their lines; new small prototype engine, Sachs KM 37, built by Fichtel and Sachs under NSU-Wankel license, delivers 6.5 hp at 5500 rpm and weighs 30 lb or 4.5 lb/hp; examples of European gasoline engines, such as Jlo Model L 77 two-cycle engine, and French four-cycle engine Bernard W239; Japanese engines.
