Krupp-designed and constructed diesel-hydraulic M 1500 B-B locomotives sold to Burmese railways are described and illustrated; they are said to be first narrow-gage diesel locomotives in which engine rating of 1500 hp could be achieved by fully utilizing adhesive weight, weight in full working order amounting to 48.8 tons corresponding to axle load of only 12.2 tons; further important features are robust light weight construction and excellent hydrodynamic brake.
