Design of modified standard Bo-Bo 56-ton meter-gage diesel-electric locomotives for coal carrying railroad; locomotives were manufactured by General Electric Co at its works at Erie, Pa; units are type U1OB, with width reduced from standard 9 ft to 8 ft 7 in. to suit width of railroad's rotary snow plow; locomotives are fitted with new style of driving cab which improves appearance and provides better visibility; locomotive is carried on two two-axle trucks; load on center pivot casting is distributed by cast-steel floating bolster to four curved rubber mountings; powered by turbocharged, charge-air cooled Caterpillar D398B 12-cyl, vee-form engine.
