High-energy (explosive) forming process at North American Aviation's El Toro, Calif, facility combines all basic factors, with added advantage of requiring attractively low installation and tooling costs; two general methods of high-energy forming used are pit forming under water, and bulge forming in which no water pit is employed; critical parts produced include components for rocket engine assemblies, rocket engine mandrels, pylons for Hound Dog missile, etc; description of techniques and their advantages.
