For problems involving design and operation of aerospace vehicles, especially those related to trajectories and fuzing, information is needed on vertical distribution and behavior of atmospheric density as function of geometric altitude; presentations of climatology of troposphere and lower stratosphere to describe behavior of various meteorological parameters at constant pressure surfaces are discussed; comparison is made of magnitude of daily variations of density observed at constant altitude with those observed at nearby constant pressure surfaces.
