Structural loads and control-system disturbances resulting from variations of wind along vehicle path are among problems in area of applied meteorology concerned with technology of rocket-propelled vertically launched aerospace vehicles; rigid spherical balloons were released in still air to assess magnitudes of possible self-induced motion; they were found to exhibit oscillations similar to those previously reported for rubber balloons.
