Speed and efficiency of elevators; increase in speed results in greater efficiency, but with increasing speed, acceleration and deceleration exert corresponding influence on traveling time, and critical speed develops, beyond which not much gain in efficency can be obtained; for further gain in efficiency, it would be necessary to shorten stopping periods.
