Limitation of 1929 contest to performance gliders necessitated establishment of formula to make it possible to distinguish between these and school and training gliders; sinking speed was adopted as basis for such distinction, and requirement was made that sinking speed of performance glider should exceed 2.62 ft. per sec.; description of new glider designs.
