Resulting from increase in safety and speed, necessitated by bus competition and also by official request, French railroads have been compelled to improve on branch systems; most satisfactory system is that employing angle of tg. 0.06 corresponding to crossing angle of 3 deg. 26 min. and radius of 900 m.
