Stability equation for structure acted upon by air forces is set up in form convenient for flutter analysis; unrestricted generalized coordinates in complex form are used; expressions given for aerodynamical coefficients of airfoil in terms of theoretical two-dimensional coefficients; mechanical coefficients for airfoils expressed in terms of quantities generally known or easily calculable; value of empirical data from resonance and static deflection tests emphasized.
