At permanent way depot of London Passenger Transport Board part of former car shed, 700 ft by 80 ft, adapted for welding of rails up to 300 ft in length and for heat treatment of welded joints; shop contains plant for machining of Brogden chamfered rail joints, and for grinding of rail joints, and for grinding of rails that have become corrugated under traffic; electric flush butt welder used with capacity of 160-320 kva. 400-v a-c for which is supplied from 600-v d-c motor generator with capacity of 300 hp.
