At New Mexico potash mine, it was found that real advantages of a-c shuttle cars are realized when they are used in conjunction with other a-c mining equipment and power needs are reduced to one easily handled source; shuttle cars use 3-conductor, single-ground flat cable 600 ft long; experience indicates that this cable has about 3 times expected lift of Type G round cable; mine power center feeds 2 shuttle cars and 2 "safety circuit centers" located near face.
