After satisfactory trials with 17-ft 6 in. wheel base Albion CD23 Clydesdale coach chassis, African Transport Co Ltd decided to assemble deliveries at Nairobi with 20-ft wheelbases; problems arising from extra frontspring loading and extended propeller shaft led to assembly of one of chassis with engine at rear; typical run in Nairobi to Mombasa and back, distance of 616 mi in day which includes 2 hr at each end for greasing and inspection; vehicle utilization of 15,000 mi/mo results.
