Estuarial passenger and cargo vessel M.I.Okpara was built by Aldous Sucessors Ltd, to orders of Crown Agents for service in Eastern Nigeria; provision is made for 4 first-class and 16 second-class passengers with seating accommodation for deck passengers; length oa 95 ft, beam molded 20 ft 6 in., depth molded 5 ft 6 in., draft forward 3 ft and aft 3 ft 6 in., dw 24 tons; 2 Gardner type 6LX diesel engines are each capable of developing 110 bhp at 1300 rpm but derated to.102 bhp to suit local conditions.
