Vessels built by Sociedad Espanola de Construccion Naval and Compania Euskalduna, Bilbao, for Brazilian Merchant Marine Commission, were named Princesa Isabel and Princesa Leopoldina respectively; total passenger complement is 530 in 3 classes; length oa 484 ft 3 in., breadth 64 ft 3 in., draft 18 ft, gross 9696 tons; main machinery of both vessels was constructed by Espanola de Construccion Naval and comprises pair of 8-cyl B and W type diesel engines connected to twin shafts; each engine develops 4600 bhp at 170 rpm in service.
