Measures introduced include 24-hr service whereby vessels entering and leaving Medway are kept informed of general traffic position, and their movements regulated if necessary; launch maintains continuous patrol in lower Medway area, and is in direct radio telephone contact with Port Operation Headquarters; tanker traffic warning lights are also used; radar system is to come into effect during summer of 1962.
