Investigation of design problems of solid propellant first stage for typical NOVA launch vehicle; it is found that major differences between solid and liquid propellant first stage arise from higher thrust of solid propulsion units, cluster structure necessary to combine several motors into stage, and vehicle stability and control problems; analysis shows that satisfactory solutions can be found.
