Plastic analysis is used to develop design for ship bulkheads based on allowable permanent deflection due to lateral pressure loading; specifically, theorems of limit analysis are used to determine load required for given permanent sets; both U S Navy and Am Bur Shipg regulations are taken into account; design example specifying mild steel of particular yield stress is included.
