Simulators duplicating conditions of lunar round trip, except weightlessness and radiation hazards, are developed at Ames Research Center to determine how best to integrate man into Apollo guidance loop and to evaluate navigation systems and techniques; use of " interim" mid-course simulator in which pilots attempt to navigate over 8-hr phases of Earth-Moon trajectory, and 5-degree-of-freedom simulator to test piloting problems during re-entry at lunar return speed of 25,000 mph; future plans.
