Astronaut Water Schirra conducted 2 new experiments in each orbit of MA-8 space flight on Oct 3 1962 to determine effects of prolonged weightlessness; both were checks on his ability to sense his body position in space; in one test, astronaut attempted to touch 3 instruments on his instrument panel with his eyes closed; in second, astronaut took few seconds in each orbit to close his eyes and try to visualize his body position; bioinstrumentation used; 5 solid-state radiation dosimeters were carried in clothing to check effects of new radiation level produced by high altitude nuclear testing.
