Accelerator utilizing argon, or argon seeded with mercury vapor; comparison of this a-c system with previous investigation of d-c accelerator indicated that induction system is more effective at pressures below 1 mm Hg; vane deflection measurements indicated that there was effective pumping action on neutral gas; pertinence to high specific impulse propulsion systems for spacecraft.
