Slotted tunnel is found to be extremely effective in minimizing subsonic interference, porous-wall or perforated tunnel less effective; boundary interference in transonic tunnels near Mach number of unity is much smaller than suggested by subsonic linearzed theory; testing of models of small size relative to tunnel size is, therefore, possible near Mach number one.
