Estimate of travel demand between northeast corridor cities was required to select candidate systems for mass air transportation; MIT-developed gravity demand model was modified to include annual increase in air travel, income of city-of-origin and attractiveness of city-of-destination, and applied to 46 selected cities in corridor; factors studied included route network determination, transfer terminal, transfer terminal routes, transfer terminal design, and revolving sector navigation system; four-phase evolution of proposed mass transportation system is outlined.
