Review of recent trends and methods used to improve transportation of frozen foods, fresh meats, tropical fruits, and high density type vegetables; examples of 1967 air shipment volumes of California produce show market expansion and future possibilities; introduction of leak-proof containers, refrigerated containers, handling cycle for perishables, live shipments, and intermodal containers, needed for jumbo jet freighters of future; size of these containers will be 8×8 ft with nominal lengths of 10, 20, 30, or 40 ft; intermodal capability of these containers incorporating controlled environment should result in significant increase in perishable traffic.
