Three roles are envisaged for aircraft in commercial passenger service -- connection within metropolitan areas, connection between city centers, and connection between airports; STROL and VTOL air transportation system depends on timely coordinated development of aircraft, navigation, air traffic control and ground space facilities; performance in each of various flight phases, namely, cruising speeds, altitudes, rates of climb, time and radius of turn, approach and landing-speeds for STOL, VTOL (rotor), and VTOL (nonrotor) is estimated.
