New generation of jet is about to be introduced into commercial transport service; increased size as well as more stringent safety demands dictate significant changes in flight control systems, both in concept and mechanization; factors which led to selection of principal features of Lockheed L-1011 flight control system, i.e., full power control, flying stabilizer longitudinal control and direct lift augmentation, are reviewed and resultant system mechanization is described.
