Lock-heed's C-5A malfunction detection, analysis and recording system, called MADAR, was designed to detect malfunctions to line-replaceable-unit (LRU) level on selected aircraft systems; detection scheme has been applied to electrical, electronic, environmental, mechanical, and propulsion systems; system consists essentially of two subsystems, automatic and manual, which share printout unit and maintenance data recorder for record keeping; each subsystem, components and operational modes are described.
