Well developed and controlled processes, utilization of optimum materials, and assurance that both are correct are key elements in manufacture of modern aircraft windshield; glass-plastic windshield is considered that appears to combine best properties of both all-glass and all-plastic concepts; advantages are -- it can be routinely and easily curved; need for structural posts in crew's critical line of vision can be minimized, if not eliminated; greater viewing areas can be utilized and weight saving.
