Simulation techniques are used by Eastern Airlines to provide pilot under training with most realistic experience; examples of procedures used as training and checking maneuvers and results obtained; under present Federal Aviation Administration, approved simulator program can be used to reduce aircraft time in initial training by 25%; during recurrent training and proficiency checks, full check can be accomplished once every year, and two thirds of other six months check can be accomplished in simulator; future total simulation program should comprise cockpit procedures trainer, systems trainer, navigation trainer, and full scale ground simulator, equipped with motion, sound, and visual presentation of ground environment.
