Theoretical mathematical analysis; it is assumed that chances in favor of airplane successfully passing through balloon barrage are proportional to aggregate width of unobstructed pathways between balloons and chances of its failing to pass are proportional to aggregate width of obstructed pathways; degree of protection afforded to area defended by balloon barrage is defined as ratio of chances of failure to chances of successful passage.
