Practical results of tests taken from detailed reports to Research Committee of Institute of Welding; object of investigation was to compare composite beams made up of riveted plates and sections with similar welded beams under conditions of partial fixity resembling those occurring in ship construction, with view to obtaining information on relative merits of riveted as compared with welded stiffening in general.
