Principles of magnetofluid-dynamics in compression and acceleration of poorly conducting liquids (e.g., seawater) are considered for possible application to propulsion of undersea craft; paper investigates analytically nature of electromechanically induced motions inside compressor, both of fluid conductor and pumped fluid, when electromechanical coupling is weak, i.e., at limit of small magnetic Reynolds number, and examines under what conditions and to what extent conjectured behavior of compressor is predicted analytically.
