Hugh C. Blaske is designed to handle barge tows of 30,000 tons of cargo, and was built for American Commercial Barge Line by Jeffersonville Boat and Machine Co; length 170 ft, breadth 40 ft, depth 11 ft, normal displacement 1150 tons; twin-screw vessel is powered by two 16-cyl, model 251-B Alco diesel engines, each rated 2400-hp at 1000 rpm.
